What Are The Chances Of Me Inheriting AL Amyloidosis From My Mother?
A MyAmyloidosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

My mother was diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis on January 6, 2023 and passed away from it 6 months later, June 24, 2023. I really want to be tested but don't know where to go. PLEASE HELP!

Just a simple blood test. Immunology to test your free light chains. Even though it may not be hereditary at least the test would give you some peace of mind.

If your mothers' doctors are certain she had AL Amyloidosis then you don't need to worry about it being passed on to you because it is not hereditary. I would however speak to your doctor if you are exhibiting any of the symptoms of amyloidosis. You could contract AL amyloidosis independently of your mother having it. You could also be experiencing one of the other forms of amyloidosis.
