My husband was taken off toporol after years of taking it and amlodipine to control his blood pressure. He is now taking Lisinopril and doxazosin and his blood pressure has steadily increased even though the doctor has increased the meds.

My husband was on BP lowering drugs for over a decade, when rather percipitously his pressure started to go down. Everyone who measured it kept saying, Oh wonderful you have great BP. Well he didn't, and the orthostatic hypotension became so problematic that he was falling at least once a day and we were frequent flyers at the ED because of his falls and lacerations. The heart starts to weaken and the hypertension that exists because of age or narrowing of the vessels, becomes less of a problem than the hearts inability to pump the blood adequately. Don't let it get low - A whole new set of problems.

I fired my husband's previous cardiologist and found a new one. The reason I did this was I took it upon myself having suspected that his doctors were over medicating him in the in the blood pressure department. He was suffering from severe syncope from over medication. He suffered AFib, syncope, many physical damages from falls. From passing out.

After much tracking on my own and presenting my evidence having lowered his blood pressure medications painstakingly methodically I presented my results, to his cardiologist.showing that my husband's overall well-being was benefited by a reduction in this medication.
I found a new cardiologist who immediately took hubby off of all BP meds, looked him in the eye, and said" get used to his new lower blood pressure!!
Turns out he was right!
Hubby then had a. Ablation procedure which eliminated his AFib.
Hubby's cardiologist says that people with cardiac family doses should not be on blood pressure medications because it is a different cause
