Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF) Dropped Significantly Over Six Months.

In June '23 my ECHO showed LVEF of 65%; this morning's ECHO estimated 43%. Probably not a good trend but I am on Tafamidis now. I suppose I should get busy with regular exercise and lose some weight. Agreed?

Also my doctor lets me do a full gym workout scaled back about 25%. I feel like I’ve joined the human race again!!

My EF was 35 last summer when I was short of breath with one flight of stairs. I was diagnosed with
“Wild Amyloidosis” affecting only the heart (left vent wall 1.5 cm in thickness). I started the Vyndamax in October and this month my EF
Is 65 and left vent wall 0.9. Cm in thickness. I now can do 4 flights of stairs before I get SOB. I also do
IV EDTA chelation twice monthly.

Yes, lose weight your heart has a lot less to do the less you weigh also different people can read those ejection factors differently. Be concerned, but not overly excited, keep exercising remember the song from the movie with Clint Eastwood. Don’t let the old man in.

Hello Hal, wATTR too here. In January 22, I begun to take tafamidis and I had an echo. My ejection fraction was 25 %… One year after in January 23 those values were still the same. I concluded that tafamidis was effective in stabilizing my condition. And if I’m not wrong, an ejection fraction of 60 % is considered normal.

My husband gets an echo 3/6 this will be the first after starting treatment in November, emergently admitted at that time, EF was 11%, hoping it is at least 40, for you starting with 65 and dropping to 40s probably not a good trend, hoping the tafamadis will keep you stable, hope we get some good news Wed. Hang in there guys
