We are studying this issue right now. We bought the "Amyloidosis Diet Cookbook" online and it was of no use. We're trying to integrate a heart-friendly diet (DASH) with a kidney-friendly diet and many of the foods acceptable or recommended under one are not recommended under the other. Potassium is an issue as is hydration. Once we've come up with a food list and possible recipes, I'll share what we've come to. I have an appointment with a dietician at the VA but it's not until April.

Be careful of your salt intake.

My wife, a talented self-taught dietician has me on a no sugar, no salt, no red meat, no fried food diet. Typical: salmon with corn/on/cob, heavy on salad. Desserts limited to once per week. Then baked chicken breasts or thighs.
Could consider the cookbook: "Eating Well Through Cancer."

My husband has to do most of the cooking. I do assist him if he asks. We have cut way down on salt. We use Mrs. Dash seasonings and use garlic powder, onion powder and different spices. The American Heart Association used to have a cookbook with low sodium recipes. Also, next time you are at the doctor's office maybe he/she could recommend or write an order for help from a registered dietitian.

We have switched our seasonings alot, no salt ones, lots of blends have salt so have to pay attention, make all our own blends for stuff like Tacos, spaghetti, no added salt canned tomatoes, read labels low sodium labels are not always, they are lower but not low, we use unsalted butter, fortunately no diabetes, coronary artery disease or kidney issues for us. TASTE OF home website has some good low sodium recipes, good luck with the journey
