I have the same exact thing. Food taste like crap but a little less like crap than at the very beginning of my journey. I don’t enjoy food like I used to. I just push through because I don’t want to lose more weight. It’s killing me because I’m Italian and we like our food!!!

Mary, somewhere in the middle of my chemotherapy treatments I lost my taste ability--came back after treatments ended. Also I ended biting my tongue several times, likely caused by a swollen tongue--that's gone now.

Hello Mary10. My husband had these same issues with taste. They were present for about two years. Then, once chemo started his taste changed and he could once more enjoy his food. The scalloped and thickening tongue is a noted symptom of Amyloidosis. My husband had a thickening tongue (not much but enough that it was noted by him) but no scalloped issues.

Often my wife says I am tasteless...but I guess that's a different issue.😉

I’m on maintenance chemo every other week. I’ve been in complete response since October 2022 and my smoldering myeloma dropped down to MGUS and my cardiac enzymes are going in the right direction. I don’t think I would stop treatment even if it meant my taste coming back and feeling a little bit better. I power through my food. It’s not enjoyable anymore but I would rather be here! I get bloodwork done once a month. It always makes me nervous waiting for the results. The choice to stop treatment is a very personal one.
