Members widely confirmed experiencing shortness of breath and weakness while walking, with several sharing how these symptoms have significantly limited their daily activities and forced them to reduce walking distances or take frequent breaks. Many members described adapting by staging their walks, using mobility aids like walkers and canes to prevent falls, and accepting that their capabilities can vary dramatically from day to day, with some days allowing 1.5 miles and others barely 50 feet. A recurring theme was the emotional challenge of adjusting to these physical limitations while trying to stay positive and motivated despite the frustration of weight gain and reduced exercise capacity.

Some days I can walk 1.5 miles with no problem; other days get short of breath walking 50 feet

I, too, have gone back to my walker. Thought I was good with a cane but unsteady recently. Have had two knee replacements and scared to fall again. Have to be positive??

I’ve been gaining weight too. Probably not enough exercise also. Have to get a new mindset! Easier said than done! 😋
