Sally, one's tendency is to restrict liquid intake due to fluid buildup, but this is really the call for the doctor to make. Once in a while I end up dehydrated by not drinking enough water--not pleasant. As I noted elsewhere, I am on a lung drainage program now for almost a year, with my drainage volumes gradually decreasing. Right lung at home via my wife; left lung at hospital. So get your doctor's advice on this question.
My Doctor does have me on two diuretic pills once a day. I also have to watch my salt intake as too much salt will make a person retain water. JIM
Thanks, Jim. Hope you feel good.
I have only Furosemide so far. But watch how much I drink. No more than 1400mL and no salt too.
my husband was on a fluid restriction initially, but now needs more water intake because of medication influences on water balance, otherwise he has lightheaded spells, It is something your medical team should be giving you guidance on. Do you monitor your weight? signs of edema?
VERN ... You are so right!
