Does Anyone Else Experience Painful Legs?

A MyAmyloidosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Scarsdale, NY

Both my legs hurt, although I have not injured them. And at night, I am often awakened by pain in one leg or the other or both and attempt to relocate them to another part of the bed or hanging over the side of the bed. Is this typical of cardiac amyloidosis? I was diagnosed with wild type in November 2023.

Gabapentim never helped. I was on 300 or 400mg at night and 100 two or three times a day and had no effect. But I do have slight edema in my legs and need to buy compression stockings. Also , despite the fact that I had carpal tunnel and trigger fingers surgeries several years ago, both my hands have had carpal tunnel reappear.

Barton. I had carpel tunnel in my left hand but after a transplant it went away. Have you had one?

Is there any swelling? Maybe ask the doctor for some Gabapentin. It helped my neuropathy.

Joint pain, including in the legs, can be associated with certain types of amyloidosis. Specifically:

- AL Amyloidosis (Primary Amyloidosis): Joint pain is more commonly seen in this type.
- Dialysis-Related Amyloidosis: This type, particularly beta-2-microglobulin amyloidosis, can also cause joint pain.
