Hi Mary, I have called him twice. Jim is in the hospital but I took him out because he has 3 today, then back to hospital. They are trying to build up his strength because his balance is bad and he keeps falling. I will try to call your brother tonight after I get Jim settled again. He has vertigo and keeps falling backwards. I appreciate your brother in law helping me.

I have not applied. I have Hereditary Amyloidosis. I am sure I would not qualify due to hereditary version. I am in Private practice and I was advised that VA was not the best choice for my Amyloidosis because the VA does not try the newest versions of delaying the consequences that come on the market.

Hi, my husband has Al Amyloidosis which is rated 100% with the VA. He went through the DAV, it took about 3 years to be diagnosed. He was diagnosed through a liver & bone biopsy. I understand you have a wonderful VA facility, go and check with your service officer. If you don’t have one, I would highly recommend the DAV. My husband received his chemo at the Ann Arbor VA, but he is fortunate to not have amyloidosis in his heart. Please reach out if you have any other questions. I also have a brother in law in Marquette who is extremely knowledgeable & I could check if he could help you navigate the system. He is also a veteran.
