I have AL Amyloidosis and really the worst part of it has been the heart. Had open heart surgery to open ventricle that was filled with ambloid. It was a success, however Dr. said amyloid still there. They just fixed mechanical part of problem. Good luck to all. Sometimes the depression can get pretty bad and feel so alone .

I was actually diagnosed by way of a nuclear medicine test called PYP scan. A radioactive material is infused in my vein and at 1 and 3 hours later my chest was scanned looking for bright spots in my chest. The spots were quantitated and the amount in the heart compared to those outside of the heart, and if the ratio was greater than 1.5, meaning, half again more in the heart than around the heart, then it would be indicative of ATTR. this test does not specify which type of ATTR you have. Other scans and bloodwork would do that. Jonkalvik
