Hi all, I would like to add that I was diagnosed with Wild Type CTTR Amyloid in Feb 2022. I underwent back surgery last November to have two vertebra fused. The surgeon said he found a lot unusual tissue in my back that was contributing to my back problems so we had it tested and it turned out to be Amyloid Tissue. So now I know that the Amyloid is not only impacting my heart but my joints to some extent. The surgery was a success and has proven that I need to be watchful of any signs of it through out my body..
I would imagine if an organ is already compromised it would make it more susceptible.
Hi Carl. I wish I could be of help with this but I surely do not know. I will ask my medical team if they can direct me to information about organ-specific conditions and will let you know if they do.
Organ-specific amyloidosis occurs when amyloid deposits are localized to one area, rather than spreading systemically. This can happen due to factors like the type of misfolded protein involved, the local environment of the organ, or specific conditions that make that organ more susceptible to amyloid buildup.
