My husband has hATTR-CM. He has had spinal stenosis for years and has had 2 ablations. The pain has now settled in his neck. Anyone else?

Hi Virginia, My version of Amyloidosis has different initials and so presents differently, I guess. It affects the heart so I am breathless. I have been prescribed Tafamidis and hope it will have some beneficial slowing down effect. Good luck with your husband's affliction. Pain is a real challenge to deal with.

Yes, spinal stenosis is actually a common condition in people with ATTR-CM. The abnormal TTR protein can build up in the ligaments of the spine, causing them to thicken. This leads to narrowing of the space around the spinal cord and can put pressure on the nerves. Common symptoms include
- Back pain
- Shooting pain

My husband has had 2 spinal ablations also. He was scheduled for knee replacement which was cancelled by his Palliative Care Dr. because of comorbidities, so we march on and stay as active as possible. Happy 4th of July!
