There are 3 drugs currently approved for use in patients with ATTR-CM. Vyndamax and Attruby are oral medications taken daily, and Amvuttra is an injection given by a medical professional every three months. If your husband is on Medicare, his PART D drug insurance plan coverage may limit his choices of oral medications. You will need to check their formulary closely. Amvuttra is normally covered by Medicare PART B. If he has traditional Medicare with a supplemental plan, then he may have no out of pocket expenses if he is put on Amvuttra. Vyndamax and Attruby are both very expensive drugs and he would probably meet the Part D annual out of pocket maximum with his first months Rx. There are copay assistance foundations that can help cover the copay for these medicines as long as his insurance covers the medication and your combined incomes are lower than a set percentage of the federal poverty rate that varies with the different foundations.
