Thanks BillyP
My latest quote for travel insurance for 2 weeks in hotel in Spain was over £ 2000 for two people….the holiday cost itself was only £3000!This makes it totally impractical for UK pensioners like me & my wife.So another problem with Amyloidosis…

What difficulties do people with amyloidosis face when obtaining travel insurance?

Getting travel insurance with amyloidosis can be challenging and comes with several hurdles:

Common difficulties include:
- Harder to qualify for coverage due to the pre-existing condition
- Significantly higher costs compared to standard policies
- Special policy requirements and restrictions
- Time-consuming search process to find suitable insurers

Many people find they need help from an insurance broker who specializes in finding insurers that cover people with health conditions. When applying, it's crucial to fully disclose your medical history as requested, even though it may increase costs. This transparency helps prevent claim denials later.

Some policies have unique requirements, like waiting periods. For example, certain travel health insurances may require six months of medical stability before traveling, meaning no changes in medication during that time.

Despite the higher costs and extra effort, travel insurance is still recommended because it can protect you financially if you need to postpone or cancel your trip due to health issues.

Starting your research early—even before booking your trip—gives you more time to compare options and find coverage that works within your budget.
