Great! Thanks Theresa! What do you use for itchy skin if anything?

For my dry skin on my hands I use Bloody Knuckles. It’s good and not greasy. For the shower I use dove coco butter soap

Skin itching can be a frustrating symptom to manage, but there are several over-the-counter (OTC) options that may help bring some relief. Always test any new product on a small patch of skin first and watch for reactions like redness or swelling before applying more widely.

Here are some OTC lotions and creams worth exploring:

- Corticosteroid creams – Look for products containing hydrocortisone (e.g., Cortizone-10). These reduce inflammation and itching. Only use short-term to avoid side effects like skin thinning.
- Capsaicin cream – Derived from chili peppers, this can ease itching with regular use over a few weeks. Avoid broken skin and wash hands after applying. Brands include Zostrix and Icy Hot.
- Menthol creams – Provide a cooling sensation that can soothe itching. Brands include Bengay, Biofreeze, and Tiger Balm.
- Emollient/moisturizing creams – Help protect the skin barrier and reduce dryness. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, petroleum jelly, or lanolin. Brands include CeraVe, Aquaphor, Eucerin, and Vanicream.

Keeping emollient creams in the refrigerator before applying can make them feel extra soothing — a small but satisfying trick! If OTC options aren't providing enough relief, a dermatologist may be able to prescribe stronger treatments such as corticosteroid injections, topical calcineurin inhibitors, or light therapy. It's always a good idea to loop in your healthcare provider before starting something new.
