I have a MM specialist but not an Amyloid specialist. My MM ( Multi myeloma) specialist says that my chest wall amyloid tumor was caused by the MM.Treatments for Amylodosis is very much the same for the Induction treatment for MM. My MM specialist states that he is monitoring my Amylodosis along with my MM. What are your thoughts?

I got diagnosed February of last year with MM and AL, so far I’ve been on the steroids and pomalyst and numbers have been slowly declining. In fact just did labs today and patiently waiting for the results. I feel both of you on working, I was doing apartment maintenance and right now going through the motions on being put on permanent disability because apparently since I worked for a company that didn’t pay into Social Security I didn’t qualify for short term disability. I was 54 when I diagnosed and coming up on 57. I started with the injections but now on the pill treatment and been going down in dosage but still hard. They diagnosed when they did the bone marrow test.
Oh gosh Helen I’m right there with you. I loved my job and my independence. The whole thing is infuriating sometimes but I try not to let it get to me. I find the winters are challenging not being able to get out of the house with my all terrain walker! April can’t come soon enough.
God bless ❤️
If you read my story it will help answer some questions. It’s too long to retype 🙄 I’m on disability. I can’t work. I was a medical assistant at a pediatrician. I hate that my independence has been taken away. I’m trying to get used to my new normal. I was 57 when I got sick. I had smoldering myeloma but got downgraded to MGUS after treatment. Any other questions I’ll be happy to answer for you. Sit tight it’s a long road but it does get better. ❤️🩹
Keeping you and the family in my prayers. It feels like a double whammy when you get diagnosed with both MM and AL amyloidosis. I will be adding an update soon. Currently, arranging doctor appointments, going to doctor's appointments, phone call to different agencies ie Social Security, insurance companies etc has been / is full time occupation.
Praying for healing and a cure !
