Pain and difficulty walking can be a common symptom with amyloidosis. While it's important to stay active, you'll want to be mindful of your limits and pace yourself. Regular but gentle exercise can help manage fatigue and pain, but always listen to your body and don't overexert yourself.

Pain and difficulty walking can be a common symptom with amyloidosis. While it's important to stay active, you'll want to be mindful of your limits and pace yourself. Regular but gentle exercise can help manage fatigue and pain, but always listen to your body and don't overexert yourself.

A MyAmyloidosisTeam member shared similar experiences with mobility challenges. Short walks, when you feel up to it, can be beneficial - just be sure to take breaks as needed and don't push yourself too hard. Since leg pain can be related to circulation issues or fluid buildup common in amyloidosis, it's important to discuss these symptoms with your healthcare team. They can evaluate if adjustments to your treatment plan are needed and suggest specific exercises or strategies that are safe for your situation.

I also have pain in my calves and hip. I thought it was a previous injury showing it's ugly head. Thanks for bringing this up Shirley. My big family of ten children has totally rejected the idea as if they don't want to learn about the hATTR hereditary amyloid except for one sister who checks up on me occasionally. She was a nurse who loved her profession but could never find the niche of where she wanted until she found a rough neighborhood in Camden, New Jersey. Even I was reluctant to go there, after experiencing two guys who thought a guy with a briefcase and a suit would be a great target as I was looking for employment😉. So eight of my sisters and brothers seem to be afraid to discuss the hATTR Amyloid almost as if they are afraid of the problem. We are a tight knit family, though.

Those people with too low magnesium levels find that a magnesium supplement may alleviate their neuropathy. Ask your doctor.

Hi Shirley I too have leg pain walking or even just standing for as little as five min. Mine starts in my low back into my hips down to my feet. I have had to learn to pace myself. Last September my wife and I went to a large Corvette show at a fair grounds. We knew that walking was out of the question so I rented a scooter. I was still sore by the end of the day but there was no way that I could have walked. We had a great time. I just have to pace myself which is hard to accept.
