I have been struggling with this as well, Bill - so frustrating! Ive had 3 doctors refuse to do a biopsy for me, even though I have all of the symptoms and was referred to specialists, including Cardiac, Pulmonary, Hematologist/Oncologist, ENT, Otolaryngologist, by my neurologist. I had my neurologist tell me 10 months ago he thinks 90% I have it, but he doesn't treat it, so he's referring me to a Rheumatologist, who referred me back to the Neurologist! Find an Amyloidosis Specialist if you possibly can. The others do not know enough to handle it, and Im pretty sure that's why we keep getting brushed off - referred onto the next guy. My tongue protrudes from my mouth subconsciously, keeping me unemployed. It's been the most depressing experience just knowing I could actually be terminal, but they keep referring me to someone else. Sorry for the book - just know you're not alone. I'll pray for you!

Hello BillsRecord, if you can say that your wife has many or all the symptoms, please go beyond your family physician and get in touch with a centre in your state that has a specialty section for Amyloidosis. At least, try to contact a Hematologist and get a bone marrow biopsy or a stomach Fat Pad biopsy. These two tests will confirm a diagnosis of Amyloidosis. These tests are expensive but, if you are certain your wife has Amyloidosis, it would be best to know sooner then later. FYI: UAB Medicine in Birmingham is the primary center for amyloidosis care in Alabama, offering specialized multidisciplinary teams for diagnosis and treatment, contactable at (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators). Other specialists, including Dr. Luanda Grazette in Mobile (cardiology), also manage amyloidosis.

I am told mayo clinic is the best place to go. I am going to start there.
