I have one. The surgery wasn’t a big deal and neither was recovery. He’ll do great!

I also have a pacemaker. It was placed in 2025, 6 years after diagnosis. Mine is a dual lead, which can pace the atria and the ventricals. No issues with the procedure and easy recovery. I actually forget that it is there. Pacemakers today are small, reliable and not intrusive. Most people do not know it's there unless I tell them. I do occasionally set off theft alarms when entering or exiting a store ha!

They diagnosed my amyloidosis a few months after I got my pacemaker...2 years later they put in the defibrillator...the surgery and recovery were fairly easy and I felt so much better after. Also started Entresto which helped immensely. I feel that I would have died without the pacemaker.

I have been told that I will be getting one before the first of the year
