I have one. The surgery wasn’t a big deal and neither was recovery. He’ll do great!

They diagnosed my amyloidosis a few months after I got my pacemaker...2 years later they put in the defibrillator...the surgery and recovery were fairly easy and I felt so much better after. Also started Entresto which helped immensely. I feel that I would have died without the pacemaker.

Has anyone else needed a pacemaker due to amyloidosis?

Yes, pacemakers are a common procedure for people with cardiac amyloidosis. Many members have experience with this, as amyloidosis can affect the heart's electrical system and rhythm.

Pacemakers help regulate the heartbeat when cardiac amyloidosis causes rhythm problems. The device is implanted in the chest and produces electrical impulses to keep the heart beating at a steady, healthy pace.

Your experience with his mother's pacemaker will definitely help you both know what to expect. The procedure has helped many people with cardiac amyloidosis maintain better heart function and quality of life.

Other members have found pacemakers to be an important part of managing their cardiac amyloidosis, especially when the heart's electrical signals become affected by amyloid protein deposits.
