Foot aches are most likely related to amyloidosis itself rather than Amvuttra. Here's why:
Foot pain from amyloidosis is very common and usually happens because amyloid protein deposits affect your nerves. This is called amyloid neuropathy. The pain can feel different for different people:
- Burning sensations
- Sharp and stabbing pain
- Dull and aching pain
- Often worse at night
A MyAmyloidosisTeam member described it: "Today is just nerve pain in my feet." This type of nerve pain typically happens when small nerve fibers are affected by abnormal protein deposits early in the disease.
About Amvuttra and foot pain: Amvuttra is designed to help slow nerve damage by blocking production of the abnormal protein that causes problems. While some people may experience mild injection site reactions (like swelling or tenderness where the shot is given), foot pain isn't a common side effect of the medication itself.
