Yes, BillieD. Your regular Dr. probably doesn't know anything about Amyloidosis. In fact, I was at an Urgent Care Treatment Centre yesterday and my Dr. and I were chatting. He mentioned that my spouse could remove the bandages on my back after two days. I told him my spouse had passed two years ago and I was by myself now. He casually offered his condolences and asked 'what did your spouse die of?' When I told him, he had no idea what Amyloidosis was. I educated him and he was gobsmacked that he had no knowledge of this rare disease. So, please, because you are a member of this forum, and, you know something about Amyloidosis, print one of the articles explaining the disease and take it to your Dr. and ask him to read it. Also, if you are very concerned that you have many or all of the symptoms, insist on being referred to a Hematologist who, will have knowledge of the types of biopsies that can be done to diagnose this disease. It is very important you do this asap. Chemo therapy can stop the production of the bad proteins but sadly, chemo can not remove the existing bad proteins in your body. The sooner you stop the production, the better your quality of life will be down the road. Don't delay!

You absolutely need to see a Specialty Clinic ASAP. They typically apply a multi-disciplinary team, i.e. specialists in hematology, cardiology, nephrology, and neurology, depending on the type of Amyloidosis.
It is a rare disease that often goes undiagnosed properly for years, due to the lack of knowledge of the disease and the presentation of symptoms common to other diagnoses.
I can't stress how urgent this is for your quality of life. Depending on the type, this can be fatal in 3-4 years. Sorry for the drama, but it's real and the earlier the proper diagnosis and treatment the better.
