The fatigue often comes from a cycle of poor sleep and heart strain. Here are some practical strategies others have found helpful:

- Elevate your head and shoulders in bed to ease any shortness of breath while lying flat
- Limit salt intake to reduce swelling, which can disrupt sleep
- Take diuretics earlier in the day and limit fluids before bed to avoid nighttime bathroom trips
- Keep a regular sleep-wake schedule and avoid caffeine or screen time before bed
- Ask your doctor about melatonin supplements to help restore sleep hormone levels
- Stay gently active during the day β€” light physical activity can improve sleep quality It's also worth mentioning to your cardiologist that fatigue is significantly impacting your quality of life. There may be underlying factors β€” like sleep apnea or heart rhythm issues β€” that are treatable and could make a real difference in your energy levels.

A CPAP machine, for example, can help if sleep apnea is contributing to poor rest and added heart strain.
