Transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) is a type of heart disease that happens when an abnormal protein called amyloid builds up in the heart. ATTR-CM can be the result of hereditary ATTR amyloidosis (hATTR) or wild-type amyloidosis, which most frequently affects older adults.

ATTR-CM can lead to serious complications, including heart failure and atrial fibrillation (a type of abnormal heart rhythm). Getting the right treatment is key to slowing the progression of the disease and controlling symptoms.

Being diagnosed with a heart problem can be scary. You likely have questions about how to know if your treatment is effective or if you can make lifestyle changes to protect your health. The interactive guide below can help you prepare for a productive appointment with your doctor.
