Hi Virginia, I THINK, meaning I'm not absolutely positive, my diuretic makes my headaches really bad. Originally, I started out on 100mg of torsemide, then reduced to 50mg, then 25 as needed. I discovered that when I took it - nearly instant headache. My PCP changed me to 25mg hydrochlorothiazide. That worked great for a while then I started to get that 'pressurized' headache again, so I reduced the htcz to half a tablet. I can't do without completely, but the reduction helps.
I also know there is something wrong with my neck, so off I go to an Orthopeadist, whom I hope has at least heard of Amyloidosis. I'm not saying my neck problems are or are not caused by amyloid, but I believe any doctor providing treatment should know and at least be intelligent enough to be curious and ask questions, do research.

Well Kathleen, I received four shots of cortisone in my neck yesterday from the spine doctor and a pile of new pills to take. I had my Oncology appointment shortly afterwards and he ordered an MRI and was surprised the spine doctor didn’t. He (Oncologist) said because you are a “special patient” the cortisone may give relief but won’t tell us the why. While the spine doctor was absolutely nice, etc., I could tell by his face that when I told him I was being treated for AL-Amy, he was clueless what that really meant. Sort of a mistake on my part not to just go directly to my Oncologist. In the meantime the neck and shoulder pain and headaches are just taking the wind out of me, mentally as well as physically.

I understand. My husband actually could hardly move when pain was in neck. I was overwhelmed watching try to move.

my neck pain started two months ago. I see a Spine Dr tomorrow and hopefully will get some answers. Nothing i do helps and the pain radiates to headaches, shoulders, but originates from my neck. I had been doing very well managing ailments but this new neck ailment and the accompanying headaches is really taking it out of me.
