Waking up with mucus in the throat is something others with amyloidosis have noticed too. When amyloid deposits build up in the larynx (voice box), it can irritate the airways and trigger coughing — sometimes producing mucus.

A few things worth knowing:
- Amyloid deposits can cause tissue irritation, airway obstruction, or breathing difficulties that lead to coughing and mucus
- If the mucus ever appears pink or has blood in it, that needs immediate medical attention
- Globus sensation (feeling like something is stuck in your throat) can also accompany these symptoms It's always a good idea to mention this symptom to your doctor, especially if it's new or getting worse. They can check whether amyloid buildup in the throat area might be contributing to it.

In the meantime, eating your last meal earlier in the evening may help, as it gives your body more time to digest before lying down — which can reduce reflux-related throat symptoms overnight.

I do have chronic bronchitis, may it's that. I just use cough drops or chest decongestant like Muscinex. Drink lots of water
Good luck. It is a pain....
